They are to be mailed on Thurs, Oct. 24th.  Plenty of time to get them done. I’ll have them with me wherever I go in the next few weeks.  Stop by the house (16 Bently Dr.) or wait until our paths cross. *Note – Sue will be away from August 6-16.

JULY NEWSLETTER

Hello july Stock Photos, Royalty Free Hello july Images ...

Sara reports on our Business Meeting (6/20/24):
Sharon Suber, AAUW NJ State President
and Burlington County President

We are so grateful that Sharon Suber was able to join us at our June 20th business meeting. She has been affiliated with AAUW for 25 years and is a wealth of information.
AAUW has recently been successful in the lobbying for the provision of free menstrual products in all public high schools in our state, effective September 2024. Provision is
state mandated as an equity issue. AAUW is now looking into expanding provision within public colleges and middle schools. AAUW is a coalition partner in the exposure of
human trafficking. NJ is vulnerable to human trafficking due to the state’s dense populations, location of malls, and its location along the I-95 corridor.
Pam Buchanan, Pam Corrigan, Judy Baillere, and Anne Lovett volunteered to help our group become better educated about the indicators of human trafficking.
Sharon suggested that we ask for a speaker to come meet with us as a group or as a community event we could sponsor.
AAUW is also actively against book banning, played an active role in sponsoring a Ruth Bader Ginsburg stamp dedication at Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hall on Rutger University
Campus in Newark, and developed a zoom presentation about Madame CJ Walker, the first Black woman millionaire and problems faced by women entrepreneurs. AAUWNJ is
sending out Call to Actions messages so members can post letters to politicians about various topics. Members can just click on buttons to send notices to politicians instead of
writing letters and postcards.
Other possible areas our branch could explore include: supporting STEM efforts by participating, once again, in the Tech Trek program at Stockton on some level; exploring an
alliance with the League of Women Voters to help with their Gloucester County candidates’ database for elections; actively reviewing the National AAUW website for possible
program ideas and actions we can take to support our mission of equity for women and girls.
